Happy Mother Earth Day! We are hiring for a Sovereignty Specialist because the health of Mother Earth is inextricably linked to strong tribal sovereignty and self-determination! Ideal candidates will be ready to serve our Tribal Nation members to enhance sovereignty and self-determination in legal and policy strategies to protect, heal and care for ancestral lands and waters. Could you be our legal eagle? We hope so. Ideal candidates will be located in Virginia but this is a remote position and we are recruiting from the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

You will support the recognition, protection, and advancement of tribal sovereignty in all our work. The Sovereignty Specialist works in service of the Indigenous Conservation Council’s Tribal Nation members to enhance good relations with federal and state agencies, legal experts, and advocacy groups to ensure Tribal Nations can exercise their inherent rights to self-determination, governance, and territorial integrity through agreements, policies, and partnerships.
